When a medication on a profile has an expiry date, TapCare emails you as that date gets close. Reminders are on by default and go to the email address on your TapCare account.
| Reminder | Sent |
|---|---|
| 4 weeks before | 28 days before |
| 2 weeks before | 14 days before |
| 1 day before | The day before |
| Expired | The day after |
Add the expiry as the month and year printed on the device. A device stays in date until the end of that month, so for an EpiPen marked March 2027 you’d get reminders on 3 March, 17 March and 30 March, then an expired email on 1 April.
Reminders arrive after 8 am Brisbane time (AEST). Each one names the child and the medication, and has an Update profile button that opens the profile in your dashboard.
One email for each medication
If two devices expire in the same month, you get a separate reminder for each, so none gets missed.
Added a medication close to its expiry?
You get the reminder that fits now, and it says how long is left, such as “in 20 days”. Reminders that would already have gone out aren’t sent late.
When reminders stop
- You enter a new expiry date. When you replace a device, update its expiry month. The reminders start again for the new date.
- The device is marked used. Your dashboard already asks you to replace it.
- The medication or profile is removed.
- You switch reminders off.
Medications without an expiry date don’t get reminders.
Turning reminders on or off
- Sign in to your dashboard and open Account.
- Choose Email alerts.
- Turn Medication expiry reminders on or off, then choose Save settings.
The setting applies to all profiles in your account.
