Taps & Allergy Response

Profile and band email alerts

Choose which profile opens, Allergy Response reports and lost-band taps reach your inbox.

TapCare can email the profile owner about activity on their linked bands. Alerts go to the email address on your TapCare account, shown under Account → Email alerts.

Which alerts are on?

All three alerts are on by default, for new and existing accounts:

Email alertWhen it is sentDefault
Profile-open emailsSomeone opens a profile from one of your bandsOn
Allergy Response assessment emailsA helper reports mild/moderate or severe symptoms in Allergy ResponseOn
Lost-band emailsSomeone opens a band you’ve marked lostOn

To change them:

  1. Sign in to your dashboard and open Account.
  2. Choose Email alerts.
  3. Turn each alert on or off, then choose Save settings.

Each switch works on its own and applies to all profiles in your account. These settings don’t add other recipients or send SMS or push notifications.

The same page has a switch for medication expiry reminders, which work separately from these alerts.

How often will I get them?

To keep your inbox useful, repeat visits don’t always send another email:

  • Profile opens: at most one email every 30 minutes for each band. Reloading the page or opening the band again soon after doesn’t send another.
  • Allergy Response assessments: one email per visit, for the first assessment the helper reports, and at most one every 30 minutes for each band. If the helper changes their answers, we don’t email again; Activity shows the latest. Opening Allergy Response without reporting symptoms doesn’t send an email.
  • Lost bands: at most one email every 10 minutes for each band, however many times it’s opened. The lost band keeps showing a neutral page without the profile’s details.
  • Daily limit: at most 12 alert emails a day across your account.
  • Late alerts: if an alert can’t be queued within 2 hours of the visit, we don’t send it, and no alert is delivered more than 6 hours after the visit.

Visits that don’t send an email are still recorded in Activity.

TapCare records opens from NFC taps and from the band’s link. An alert tells you the profile was opened; it doesn’t prove someone physically tapped the band.

What if I tap my own band?

Taps made in a browser signed in as the profile owner don’t send alerts. They still appear in Activity. If you aren’t signed in, TapCare can’t tell the tap was yours, so it may send an alert.

Dashboard previews don’t record taps or send alerts.

What is in the email?

Alerts include your name, the profile name, band label, the time of the visit in Brisbane time (AEST), a rough location and a View activity button. You need to sign in to your account to open Activity. Emails don’t include medical documents or a detailed symptom list.

An Allergy Response assessment email describes what a helper reported. It isn’t a diagnosis. The email asks you to contact your child or whoever is with them, and to call 000 if you can’t reach them.

Location is for the phone that opened the profile, not your child’s live location. Emails never include exact coordinates. They show an approximate area, such as the suburb or region based on the phone’s network, or say that a more precise location is available in Activity. If no location was available, the email says so.
